REMHOOGTE WINE ESTATE
Remhoogte Wine Estate is a small family owned and run winery situated on south western slopes below the Simonsberg Mountain in Stellenbosch, a prime red wine producing area of South Africa. The Dutch name, Remhoogte, is derived from the early days of Stellenbosch when oxwagons needed to apply their breaks on the steep hills leading down into Stellenbosch. The original title deeds of this 60 ha estate dates back to 1812. Murray and Juliet Boustred have been making wine on the estate since 1995. In 2000 they formed a partnership in the cellar with Michel and Dany Rolland, renowned oeneologists and producers from Bordeaux. The focus is now on blends and the first wines of the partnership were produced in 2002. The flagship wine is Bonne Nouvelle and the estate wine is the Remhoogte Estate Blend.
